For UK accountancy practices

What changed. What to do. Monday morning.

A sourced Monday brief of HMRC, Companies House and related regulatory updates that actually affect your clients, labelled Action, Watch or Ignore. Built for practices that cannot spare a full-time compliance person, but still need partners and seniors current.

Free for qualifying practices of roughly 5–40 staff. Tell us your client mix and we tailor both briefs to it.

General information only, not legal, tax or professional advice. Every item links to the primary source.

The problem

Partners still need to stay current. Few practices can spare someone to watch the sources.

In practices of roughly 5–40 staff, partners and seniors still burn hours on gov.uk update trails, Agent Updates and scattered regulator emails, or miss something that mattered to clients.

Full research databases help when you already know what to search for. They do not give the firm a shared Monday view.

Practice Signal does. One structured brief, every Monday: what changed, who it affects, what to do, by when, and the source. Minutes, not hours, to decide what matters this week.

How items are labelled

Action. Watch. Ignore.

Every item in the brief carries one label, so your team can see at a glance what needs doing and what can safely wait.

Watch

Worth knowing, not yet a task

What changed, who it affects, and what would turn it into an Action, so you know when to look again.

Ignore

Noted, and why it can wait

One line and the reason it is unlikely to matter to a typical practice, with the source if you want to check.

What you get

A retainer information service, not another database.

Monday brief

Plain English, every item labelled Action, Watch or Ignore, with primary-source links.

Coverage

HMRC, Companies House and related public sources on our watchlist, expanding as further feeds are verified.

Mid-week alerts

On Standard and Full: material Action items that cannot wait for Monday.

Key dates

Upcoming windows drawn from primary sources, in every brief.

Archive

Keep past briefs for staff training and internal reference.

Human spot-check

Material flags are reviewed by a person before the brief goes out.

Built to be forwarded without rewriting.

Each item follows the same structure, so a partner can read it in a minute and forward it to staff as it stands.

HMRC: approved AML supervision needed before an agent services application

What changed
HMRC’s agent services account guidance now says it may reject an application if the business has applied for AML supervision but it has not yet been approved. HMRC also widened the AML evidence it accepts.
Who it affects
New or restructured practices, and anyone mid-application without approved AML supervision. Established, already-supervised practices are not affected day to day.
Why watch
This becomes an action only if you are about to apply or re-apply. If so, get AML supervision approved first and keep one of the listed forms of evidence ready.

What we are, and are not

An information service. Your professional judgement stays yours.

We filter and summarise public regulatory material so practitioners can apply their own judgement faster. Every item links to the official source.

  • We are not a law firm, tax adviser, AML supervisor or software platform.
  • We do not give opinions on any particular client’s position.
  • We do not claim complete coverage of every UK regulatory change.
  • We are not affiliated with HMRC, Companies House, the FCA or any professional body.

Check the source. Then decide.

Two free briefs

See it on your own client mix.

Tell us your practice size and main client mix (for example SMEs, landlords, contractors, payroll-heavy). We will send two free Monday briefs tailored to it, so you can judge the format before committing to anything.
